Replace 240v Circuit Breaker
A circuit breaker panel is essentially a big switch made up of smaller switches that correspond to certain electrical zones in a building.
Replace 240v circuit breaker. Replacing a circuit breaker appears somewhat intimidating. A 3 wire 240 volt circuit has two hot wires each supplying 120 volts for a total of 240 and an equipment ground wire. Remove the screws holding the circuit panel s face plate then loosen the screws holding the wires on the defective breaker. Run the cabling from your 240v circuit to the location of your breaker box.
A 120 volt circuit has only one hot wire connected to the breaker plus a neutral wire connected to the neutral bus bar in the service panel. Circuit breakers can simply be reset. Next turn off the branch breaker boxes the main power and the individual breakers. To change a circuit breaker find the main circuit breaker box and locate the defective breaker by looking for a tripped breaker.
Use a 4 strand cable of a gauge designed to operate with the power rating of your breaker. For safety the worker first shuts off the main circuit breaker and tests for voltage before touching any wires or wire connections. This is the basic process electricians follow to replace a 120 volt or 240 volt circuit breaker in a household electrical system.
