Removing Bottom Sash Vinyl Window
Remove the stops that hold the sash in the window frame.
Removing bottom sash vinyl window. Pull the top of the window sash towards you tilting it into the room until it is horizontal. Place one hand on the top half of the lower jamb liner and pull the bottom of the lower jamb liner away from the window frame. In order to dislodge these tabs from the window frame you ll have to push up on the right side or left it doesn t matter much of the sash. Remove this type of vinyl jamb liner by working a stiff putty knife between the window stop and the track. There are tabs at the top of the double hung window that you must can pull to remove it from the frame.
Lift up on one side of the tilt out sash while holding the other side of the sash stationary. Remove the stops either by unscrewing them from the window frame or if no screws are used by prying them away from the frame using a small pry bar or large screwdriver. Remove the lower jamb liner completely away from the window frame. This will allow you to remove the sash from the frame.
Raise the lower sash to the fully open position. Remove the screws on the bottom of the left jamb liner with the phillips head screwdriver. Grab the vinyl edge with one hand then pry the knife outward to release the jamb liner and avoid damaging the wood stop. The bottom of the window will pull out when the sash is lifted.
The stops are vertical bars in the inside edge of the window frame in front of the sash. Your sash has two metal tabs that hold it in the window frame.
