Ammonia is a wax stripper best suited for removing acrylic waxes on hardwood floors. I polished my new prefinished wood floor with bona hardwood polish. I tried water and vinegar and it helped a little but the smudgy footprints remain.
It is formulated specifically to clean glass. Because it works windex does remove residue build up or film but the downfalls is that it will kind of ruin your hardwood floor since it strips off the finish. After the recommended hour of no walking on it dogs and people walking on dry floor created horrible smudges that won t clean off. It is an alcohol and ammonia based product.
Obviously a glass cleaner is not designed for wood floors. Why do other people recommend using windex to remove bona floor polish. My floors are a little dull and there may be a residue that i am hoping over the next few months of just swiffering and cleaning with only water will also be removed.
