Remove Vinyl Window Glass

Remove vinyl window glass. The most common window grille installation simply uses a frame retainer on the inside of the window. The glass in vinyl windows is held in place with either silicone or two sided tape. Remove the window and broken glass. These types of vinyl grilles are simple to remove and clean.

Thick so you ll have enough room to slip a thin blade putty knife or utility knife between the glass and frame to slice through the tape. You might want to remove the grilles to clean them or change the appearance of the window. For these start by lowering both sashes which would reveal screws into the vinyl jamb liner on one side and a line where upper and lower sections of the liner meet. Vinyl windows most likely have stops and the stops are usually easy to remove.

However some grilles are glued in and cannot be taken off without damaging the glass. The hardest part is to remove stoppers and put them back without damaging them. They then apply stops on all four sides of the glass. The style of the window in the video is awning but the same technique applies.

If you can t free the broken glass from the adhesive tape you may have to break the glass out with a hammer and remove the pieces. The tape is usually 1 16 in. Apply new glazing and set window glass.
