Remove Reappearing Carpet Stains

To remove the stain you should use a good commercial grade carpet spotting chemical to treat and work the areas. When you properly rinse a browned out stain with an acid rinse it should take care of the problem.

If you have a carpet stain that keeps coming back it probably needs to be re cleaned more thoroughly. Spray the stain with carpet spotter. If you remove a stain only to have it reappear later after the spot has been walked on for awhile the new stain is actually from dirt. After treatment place a stack of paper towels or a clean white towel over the spot and use a stack of books or something heavy to weigh it down.

The once deep stain rises to the surface where it becomes visible. Wicking happens when liquid penetrates the rug or carpet to reach the backing and or padding. A reappearing stain called wicking may get removed from the surface with traditional cleaning methods but not from the carpeting or upholstery padding underneath. This is caused by the residue from the cleaning solution used to remove the vomit stain being left on the carpet which causes dirt to stick to the area.
